Albert Bernard

Albert Stevens "Steve" Bernard passed away in Englewood FL on October 16, 2011 after a long illness. Beloved husband of the late Jeanette "Gigi" Bernard, devoted father of Kathy (Howard Jinkinson) Bernard and Howard Jinkinson, Steve (Connie) Bernard and Lucy (Tom) Cunningham, he is also survived by five grandchildren, Abbey Bernard, John Bernard, Andy Cunningham, Katie Cunningham and Jeanette Jinkinson. He leaves his beloved sister, Florence (Chuck)Norwood, and his niece, Elsie Norwood. Steve was born in Springfield, IL in 1928 and was raised until the 8th grade on Catawba Island on Lake Erie, attending a one room schoolhouse. He then moved to Oakwood, OH where he met the love of his life Gigi. They both graduated from the University of Michigan (Steve was Sigma Chi). After his service in the Army, Steve was an engineer and plant manager for various companies and finally owned his own construction company in Cambridge, OH before he retired. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29th at 10AM at Crossroads Community Church, 3500 Madison Rd. (45209). In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to City Gospel Mission, 1947 Auburn Ave. (45219) or Crossroads Community Church.
