Art Groenewold passed away Tuesday evening, surrounded by his family. Art was born July 7, 1926 in George, Iowa, the oldest son of Minnie and Bert Groenewold. In 1953, he married Lois Glenz, supporting her as a faithful and loving husband until her passing in 1983. Their union was blessed with three children, Gary, David and Carol. In 1990 he married Carol Tauber (nee Binstadt) with whom he enjoyed his later years. Art graduated from George High School, and then studied at Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls before joining Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, where he served as a store manager in Albert Lea, Superior, Eau Claire, Omaha, Des Moines, Anaheim, and Sacramento. He joined Federated Department Stores in 1967, moving to Cincinnati where he managed their automotive centers. Later he joined Schauer Manufacturing in Blue Ash, where he served as vice president for sales, until his retirement in 1991. He was a long-time summer resident in Chetek, WI, where he enjoyed his retirement years on the lake. Survived by his wife Carol Tauber Groenewold (Montgomery, OH), son Gary (Theresa) Groenewold (Idaho Falls, ID), son David (Suzanne) Groenewold (Bellows Falls, VT), daughter Carol (Dennis) Haines (Chapel Hill, NC), cherished grandfather of Andrew, Stephanie (Ryan) Sandbek, Erin, Carson, Alexander, Clayton and Elliot, Julia and Allison Haines, beloved brother Jim (Judy) Groenewold and sister Jeannie (Red) Sampson, three stepsons John (Amberly) Tauber, Eric (Jackie) Tauber and Matthew (Jill) Tauber, and four step-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Thomas-Justin Funeral Home (7500 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati), Thursday July 12 from 7 to 8:30 pm. A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (7701 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati), Friday July 13, at 11 am.
