Colleen Bertie Wood

Colleen Bertie Wood 96, of Palm Coast, FL. passed away on March 6, 2023. She was born on September 23, 1926, in Connersville, Indiana to the late Arthur Grant and Bertie Marie Jefferson.

At an early age she became her mother’s caregiver and after her death she naturally took on that role for many of her family members.

She met and married the love of her life Walter Wood in 1943 and together they raised their family in Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked for a time at Streetman’s Bakery in Fairfax as well as retail at Shilito’s.

Colleen was known for her deep faith in Jesus and devotion to her church. Her favorite Bible verse was John 14:27. She took great pride in being the family baker always making the tasty treats for church fundraisers and family functions. She also enjoyed singing, traveling, painting, crocheting, jewelry making and playing Bingo.

Colleen will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wood in 1996; daughter, Emma Dellbrugge in 2019; great-granddaughter, Emily Brink in 1996.

Survivors include her son, Ronald (Donna) Wood; sister, Patricia Esswein; nephew, Charles Grimes; son-in-law, Bob Dellbrugge; grandchildren, Tom (Paula) Lyttleton, Steve Lyttleton, Christine (Todd) Brink, Carrie (Dan) Tygrest, Claire (Michael) Ledrich; great-grandchildren, Alex Lyttleton, Zachary Lyttleton, Elizabeth Brink, Jackson Lyttleton, Catherine Brink, Griffin Lyttleton, Megan Brink, Grace Ledrich, Lauren Tygrest, Daniel & Andrew Tygrest; great-great grandchildren, Anthony Lyttleton, Ezekiel Lyttleton and many more loving relatives and wonderful friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 21st from 10AM until the time of the funeral service, 11:30AM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) Kenwood.
