Dr. DonnaLou Meyers Davis was born in Cincinnati on May 21, 1931 and died in Cincinnati on December 27, 2017 at age 86 with her husband, children, and sister present.   DonnaLou and was a life-long resident as well as the oldest living resident of her beloved community Mariemont, a title she cherished.  She graduated from Plainville High School (now Mariemont High School) in 1949, Purdue University with honors in 1953, and then earned her Doctorate in Ministry from United Theological Seminary in 1989. After college, she worked for a decade at American Airlines as a Quality Control Supervisor, in mid-career she worked as a Field Supervisor for the Cincinnati Office of the 1970 US Census, and later in life worked as a Divorce Mediator for Lutheran Social Services and a Chaplain for Good Samaritan Hospital.  Her devotion to her Lutheran faith is evidenced in the many positions she held at her home church, Christ the King Lutheran Church of West Chester, including serving as President of the church and serving on the Board of Directors for the Lutheran Campus Ministry. Her greatest devotion and joy was her family, kids, and grandkids.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, the love of her life husband of 61 years David H. Davis; son, Donn (Sharon) Davis, of Great Falls, VA, and grandkids Cameron (20), Cooper (17), and Tess (11); daughter, Susan (Jeff) Davis-Ali, of St. Paul, MN, and grandkids Kate (18) and Andrew (14); and her little sister, Susan Meyers Thornton. In addition to sharing so much of herself with others, she enjoyed her hobbies of reading, card playing, and needlepointing.  But to say these were simply hobbies does not begin to explain her voraciousness when it came to them. She would play Bridge to see who did the dishes.  She collected rare Jokers, making them into large playing cards collages, framed in her home. She created one-of-a-kind needlepoint handbags under the "Just for You by DonnaLou" brand for various stores and patrons. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7701 Kenwood Road.  Following the service will be a lunch reception at 1230 PM at Kenwood Country Club, 6501 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, 45243. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 7393 Dimmick Road (45069) www.CTKLuth.org , or Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633597 (45263-3597), www. hospiceofcincinnati.org . Entombment and burial will be held privately.
