MEINERS

James E., age 90, beloved husband of Joyce (nee Dumbacher) for 61 years, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 28th surrounded by family members. Loving father of Mark Meiners, David (Cheri) Meiners, Julianne (Greg) DuBois, Kathryn Meiners, Patricia (David) Peeples and Nancy (Jim) Byers. Dear grandfather of 14, Kris, Kara, Erika, James, Daniel, Julia, Andrea, Katie, Laura, Nevin, Emily, James, Julie and Christine and 4 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings, Paul J. Meiners, Ruth Groene and Kathryn Behrends, all of Cincinnati. Jim was honored to be an "X" man, having graduated from both St. Xavier High School (1940) and Xavier University (1947). His university studies were interrupted by his years of service in WWII where he served as a turret ball gunner in the Army Air Force. Jim worked at General Electric in Evendale for 36 years and retired in 1987. In retirement he enjoyed traveling with Joyce to visit his children and grandchildren, and worked as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He was a long time member of St. Gertrude Church in Madeira. Visitation will be held at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) on Sunday, December 2nd from 1-3:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gertrude Church, 7630 Shawnee Run Rd. (45243) on Monday, December 3rd at 10AM with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
