HEALY
John Claude Healy, born in South Bend, Indiana on December 9, 1932, died peaceably in his sleep on November 22, 2015, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He is predeceased by his parents John E. and Carol (nee Jergensen) Healy and his wife Phoebe Bowman. He is survived by his sister Joann Desrosiers from Sarasota, Florida and his brother Jerry Healy (and his wife Nikita) from Barstow, Oklahoma, his children John, Elizabeth, Jim (and his wife Francois), Martha, Matthew (and his wife Lillie), and his step children Michael (and his wife Karen), Robin, Chris (and his wife Karen) and his 7 grandchildren. He had a degree in Education from Northern Michigan and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Michigan State University. He was passionate about golf (two hole-in-ones), tennis, gardening (at one time maintaining three different large gardens) and beer. He was a professional umpire for the ATP Tour. (John McEnroe still claims the ball was in). He enjoyed birdwatching and nature in general as well as photography. He was a first generation recycler. He was chairman of the Abenakee Tennis Committee and a member of the Abenakee Club in Biddeford Pool, Maine. He worked for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and attended St. Margaret of Cortona Church in Cincinnati, Ohio and St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Biddeford Pool, Maine. The self-titled “Mr. Wonderful” was an inveterate practical joker and will be dearly missed by many. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 1st from 4PM until the time of Mass of the Resurrection, 5PM at St. Margaret of Cortona, 6000 Murray Ave. (45224) Fairfax . A separate service will be held in Biddeford Pool, Maine next summer. He requested that any donations in his name be made to the East Point Sanctuary, Audubon Society, 20 Gilsland Farm Road, Falmouth, Maine 04105.
