Pat Mcdonald

We are sad to announce the passing of John Patrick McDonald. Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and best friend.

He was born in Madeira on April 11, 1951, and passed away surrounded by his family on March 18, 2024, at the age of 72.

Pat was the cherished father of Amber (Donny) Kennedy, Amy (Brandon) Calloway, and Chris McDonald; a devoted grandfather to Taylor (Ken) Parton, Trevor Denier, Madison Kennedy, April and Ryan Calloway, and Brandon Dodson; and a loving brother to Dan McDonald. In addition to his numerous friends, he will be deeply missed by his pet bird, Sunshine.

Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy McDonald, parents Dan and Betty Jane McDonald, stepmother Marilyn McDonald, brother Mike McDonald, and niece Amber McDonald.

His father Dan was the first Mayor of Madeira, and Pat served as a councilman for Madeira. McDonald Commons is named after the mayor and his family.

In his early years, his passion was playing the bass guitar in his band, then later he found other passions for boating, family vacations at Ft. Meyers Beach, of course his bird Sunshine, and anything sweet; especially UDF malts and Reese’s Cups.

Later in life he became the owner of Patrick’s Car Wash, a pride to him that was evident by his daily visits to the car wash, even when he didn’t have to.

He will be greatly missed by all of his friends he met along the way, especially the friends from the boat docks who remember him as “Pat In The Hat”.

The family would like to invite all of Pat’s friends to a visitation on Monday, March 25th from 11AM until the time of the funeral service, 1PM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) Kenwood. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
