Joyce C. Scharringhausen

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joyce Catherine Scharringhausen [nee Burger], who passed away surrounded by her family on February 16th, 2025, at the age of 84.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, whose love and affection touched the lives of all who knew her.

Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Leonard Scharringhausen; her children Mary Lynne, Michael, and Kenneth Scharringhausen, and Catherine (Herbie) Noll; her treasured grandchildren, three of whom she raised as her own: Nicole (Andrew), Caitlynn (Jason), and Emma, as well as Ryann, Ava, and Hannah. She adored her great-granddaughter, Adeline. Joyce is also survived by her loving sister, Lois (Ted) Enzweiler, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, Paul and Anna Burger; her brothers, Paul and Hubert Burger; and her sisters, Virginia Jacobs, Phyllis Lunnemann, and Sister Anne Paulette Burger.

Joyce referred to herself as a “professional yapper”, as hours seemed to fly by when talking with her. She had a special gift for making people laugh, often laughing at her own jokes before anyone else could. She enjoyed sitting outside watching for birds, cardinals and hummingbirds, especially. Joyce was kind, caring, stubborn, and the backbone of her family. Her selflessness was inspiring, and her spirit lives on within her family, who miss her dearly. Family was everything to Joyce.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24th, 2025, at 9:00 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, located at 6104 Desmond St, Cincinnati, Ohio 45227.

After Mass, interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, located at 11000 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249.
