Marie L. Cardwell

Marie was born on Nov 2, 1937, and was raised in Omaha, Nebraska by her parents William and Caroline Jones. She grew up there with her brothers, Red, Whitey, and her sister Alice. Aunt Weezy was the favorite babysitter to her nieces and nephews.

She met Bill while bowling in Omaha. On June 6, 1964, Bill and Marie were married at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha. From there they moved to Wichita, Kansas, then to Huntsville, Alabama and finally landing in Cincinnati where they spent the rest of their lives together. Marie stayed home and raised their 5 children - Beth, Mike, Larry, Pat, and Lori. Bill joined the Forest Park Volunteer Fire Department in 1969. That meant that Marie joined the lady’s auxiliary. Through those organizations they formed lifelong friends. Marie supported many of the organizations her family was involved in scouts, soccer, band, etc. She also worked at Our Lady of the Rosary School managing the cafeteria for many years.

Once the children were raised, she continued the volunteer work at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Often helping with funeral luncheons, feeding the homeless and the church festival.

Marie and Bill were married 62 years - a major accomplishment in today’s world. Marie was blest to watch her children marry. She watched 12 grandchildren - Ryan, Trevor {Monica(Jasmine and Harmony)} and Meghan Koch (Beth and Mike Koch’s); Tyler {Cheyenne (Waylon)}, Aaron (Bethany), Dominic (Mike and Michele’s); Brandon {Tabitha (Madeline, Mason, Myles), Andrew, Alyssa, Sydney (Larry and Christine’s); Brianna, Christopher (Lori and Travis Shipley) grow up and begin successful careers.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents - William and Caroline, her brothers Red (Rose), Whitey (Joan) and her sister Alice (Dick Birkel), her great grandchild Alexander and her daughter-in-law, Michele.

Bill and Marie shared a life of love and giving back. The world is a better place because of Marie.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie's memory may be directed to Our Lady of the Rosary Memorial Fund.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, August 3rd from 8:30-10AM, with the rosary being said at 9:30AM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) Kenwood.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM at Our Lady of the Rosary, 17 Farragut Rd. (45218) Greenhills.

Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery
