Mary F. Craft

Mary Florence Craft (nee Hermes) passed away suddenly on March 31, 2022, at the age of 78. Born on December 27, 1943, to parents Mary Jane and John Hermes of Norwood, OH. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Victor and cherished children, Stephanie O'Toole (Frank), Timothy (Donna) and Stephen (Abbey). She was the beloved "Gams" to 11 Grandchildren: Madeline, Frank, Jimmy, Casey, Maggie, Caroline, Mary Kate, Tim, Lucy, Claire, and Annie. She is also survived by her brothers; Michael (Nancy) and Steven (Janette) Hermes and was preceded in death by brother Johnny (Emily).

As a youth, Mary attended St. Peter and Paul Grade School in Norwood. She then went onto graduate from Regina High School in 1962. Her life’s calling began with a three-year nursing school program at the Mercy School of Nursing in Hamilton, OH. A natural travel enthusiast, she started her career in New York City spending 1 year at a Hospital in the Bronx. However, her strong bond and love of her family led her home where she began an over 40-year career as a Registered Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital serving in both the Pediatric and Surgical OR departments.

She was a dedicated friend to many and a lover of travel. Among her favorite adventures were trips to Yellowstone, Alaska, Italy and annual winter trips in Florida and Aruba for years with lifelong dear friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed luncheons with friends and a tasty glass of white wine. Mary was kind, unassuming and compassionate to all people she met and will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 5-7pm at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati (45236). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 8 at 10:30AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2420 Drex Ave., Norwood (45212).
