Patricia A. Markley

Patricia Ann Markley (nee Norris), age 82, passed away on Sunday, August 17th, 2025 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Patty was born on June 24th, 1943 to Thelma and Walter Norris. She attended St. Mary’s high school and married her childhood sweetheart, Jerry, on May 1st, 1965. After attending Eastern Hills Cosmetology school, she worked as a hair stylist for many years until she and Jerry were blessed with their children. After her children were grown, Patty, along with her husband, was a founding member of the Cincinnati Citizens on Patrol. She spent over a decade supporting her community in this role and her many contributions are still recognized and observed today.

While she loved her work as a hair stylist and as a dedicated member of Citizens on Patrol, her most beloved role was that of a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her love for children was evident, often taking in and becoming a village to help in raising neighbors, friends of her children, and even friends of her grandchildren. As such, her family has many “honorary” members.

Patty loved to travel with her family, and she and Jerry enjoyed countless vacations to Siesta Key, Disney World, camping trips, and beyond. She loved her dogs, particularly her German shepherds, raising and caring for 11 of them from her childhood through the rest of her life, never without one. She loved sports, whether she was a player on the field, coaching from the sidelines, or cheering on her grandchildren from the bleachers. Countless seasons were spent at volleyball matches, softball games, soccer fields, and baseball diamonds. When she wasn’t on the field or traveling, you could find her at home, always with one or two of her grandchildren, staying up late to watch movies, cooking for her family, or talking about life on the front porch.

Her love for her family knew no bounds. She was a mother and a “Nanaw,” as her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her, to everyone. She was a storyteller, a nurturer, and a safe haven for all who loved her.

Patty is survived by her children Julie (Brian) Williamson, KC (Katy) Markley, Jason Markley, and Kerry (Darrin) Graczyk, and her grandchildren Matthew Zimmerman, Lindsey (Reggie) Emory, Meagan (Chris) Prampero, Chelsie Markley, Kyle (Taylor) Williamson, Tyler Williamson, Shannon (Johnny) Wood, Kailey (Jake) Brown-Graczyk, Kelly Markley, Allye Markley, Maggie Markley, Charlie Markley, and Nick (Kyra) Graczyk. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jean Pickens, her sister Joan Saunders, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lastly, she leaves behind her last German shepherd, Bennie, who will be cared for by family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jerry, her parents Thelma and Walter, and her brother, Walter.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 21st from 10AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial, 11AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 3105 Madison Rd (45209) Oakley.

Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
