Paul Behrends

Paul E Behrends., beloved husband of Kathryn (nee Meiners) for 63 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11 at age 88. Loving father of Carol Frese (Gregory), Stephen (Deborah), Judy Witt (Dexter), Paul, and Joan Van Pelt (Richard). Dear PaPa to 10 grandchildren; Katie, Jeffrey, Michael, Kevin, Kate, Daniel, Paul, Grace, Joey, and Maria. Preceded in death by parents Henry and Reba (nee van Benschoten) and sisters Ruth and Viola. He is survived by brother Henry J. Behrends of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Paul graduated from St. Xavier High School in June, 1944 and the next day left for Great Lakes Naval Base with 7 of his classmates. He served in the South Pacific during the war. After attending Xavier University, Paul spent 40 years working in the beverage industry (10 years with Fleischman Distilling and 30 years with Hueblin/Diageo). He held himself to a high standard of excellence as the Divisional Vice President of Sales. He was well respected by his peers. His energy, enthusiasm, and charisma touched all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Bellarmine Chapel (Xavier University Campus, 3800 Victory Parkway) on Saturday October 18 at 10:30AM. Visitation will precede Mass from 9AM until 10:30AM at Bellarmine Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Xavier High School, 600 W.
