Great-grandfather of Allison, Crosley, Haley, Patrick, Harper, Chloe, Gus, and Jamie.

Brother of Nancy (Gerald) DeBrunner, and the late MaryAnn "Dolly" Nischwitz, Thomas Schlie, and William Schlie.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Clifford J. and Mary G. (nee Kasselman) Schlie.

Paul served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict with the Counterintelligence Corps.

Paul was a GOOD man. There are countless examples: accepting his blind mother-in-law to live with his five children (and only one bathroom!); being a member of the parish Men’s Club and singing in the choir; supporting his children in all of their many endeavors; being an obedient son and a cherished older brother. This list could go on and on… He taught his children by word and example. He faced the deaths of too many loved ones but never became bitter. He trusted God’s plan and continued to walk in faith. He chose to see the good in people and block out the negative. He always had a kind word or compliment for those he saw.

As an avid Bengals and Xavier fan nothing made him happier than game days. He enjoyed ice cream and never missed a meal. Paul had a great sense of humor, truly laughed out loud at Benny Hill and The Carol Burnett Show. After a long career with the same company, he was able to retire early. He enjoyed golfing, especially at Myrtle Beach, and taking bus trips. Mostly he loved his family and time spent with his many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Matthew 25:23: His lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”

He passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 94. His family was with him.
