Richard "Dick", husband of Annette (nee Andris) M. Benken. Father of Gregory Benken (Linda) of Chesterfield, Missouri, Mark H. Benken (Nancy), Michael B. Benken (Kathleen), Celia Ouwerkerk (Nick), Cletus J. Benken (Ann), and Andrea Porter (Russ) all of Cincinnati. Proceeded in death by his loving parents Harry and Johanna Benken, and his only brother, Irwin Benken. Beloved brother of Virginia Wahl (William), Joan Reeves (Paul), Irene Torbeck (Joe), Marilyn Frush (Charlie). Brother-in-law of Patricia Benken and Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Grandfather of Ted, Dan, Jeffrey, Blair, Tim, Angela, John, Lindsay, Kate, Ann, Andy, Claire and Jack. Great grandfather of 14. He served with the Navy in World War II on the USS Roosevelt. His passion in life were his friends, the Silverton Kenwood Madeira Kiwanis, golfing and playing cards. He served as the Mayor of Silverton from to 1968 to 1979. Suddenly, Monday, July 16th at age 90 . Visitation from Noon till time of Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30pm. Nativity Church, 5936 Ridge Ave. (45212) at the corner of Woodford and Ridge. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family requests that memorials be directed to the Silverton/Kenwood/Madeira Kiwanis in Dick's name, c/o Chuck Dimmitt, 7110 Wallace Ave., Madeira (45243).
