Robert E., beloved husband for 64 years of Virginia (nee McDonald), cherished father of Bob Byrnes, Terry (Diane) Byrnes, Becky (Mike) Gumbleton, Mary Jo (Tim) Speed, Judy (Jim) Wermes, and Sally (Paul) Jannot, devoted grandfather of Gina, Elizabeth, Robyn, Scott, Kelly, Nick, Teddy, Clare, Abby, Emily, Maggie, Grace, Jake, Nick and Anna, loving great-grandfather of eleven.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty (Dick) Surkamp and Hugh (Mary) Byrnes. Passed away surrounded by his family on December 23, at the age of 88. Mr. Byrnes was a graduate of Xavier University, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an Executive Vice President of Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company, prior to his retirement after more than 40 years with the company. Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation on Wednesday, December 27th from 9AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial, 11AM at St. Saviour Church, 4136 Myrtle Ave. (45236).
