SAUER

Susan (nee Nagel), Montgomery, Ohio, beloved wife for 47 years of Douglas C, loving mother of Sean Sauer (Monica), Scott Sauer (Alison) and the late Steven Sauer. She was the charismatic loving grandmother of Jake, Ben, Liam, and Nora Sauer. Cherished sister of Sandra Smith (Bruce) and devoted aunt to Stephanie, Stacey, and Brandon. Susan passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 after a year long battle with cancer. Susan was born in Pearisburg, VA, to the late Edward and June Ford Nagel. She was a 1962 graduate of Withrow High School and received her Bachelor and Master degrees in art and education from the University of Cincinnati. Susan ardently served as a beloved art teacher in the Sycamore Community School District from 1966 until she retired from Maple Dale Elementary in 2012. She is remembered as a tireless, educational visionary and teacher leader who served as the president of the Sycamore Education Association (SEA) from 1989 until 2005. Friends may call on Thursday, October 16th from 3:00 until time of the service at 5:00 p.m. at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236).
