Suzanne Vosmer Skidmore

Suzanne Vosmer Skidmore passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025. Suzanne was preceded in death by her adored husband of 59 years, David A. Skidmore. She was the loving mother of Suki (Tim Kane) Skidmore, Melissa (Grant) Cowan, and David (Kristin) Skidmore, Jr., devoted grandmother of Carter (Gracie) Mills, Stewart (Bret) Guderian, Spencer (Catherine) Cowan, Ned (Sarah) Cowan, Graydon Cowan, Alexandra Skidmore, and David Skidmore, III, and great-grandmother of Lula Guderian, Cam Guderian, Hale Cowan, and Nell Cowan.

Suzanne was the beloved daughter of the late Nell and Edward Vosmer and was a life-long Cincinnatian. She grew up in Mariemont and graduated from the former Plainville High School and the University of Cincinnati. After graduating from college, she taught 6th grade in Madisonville for several years. Many of her students continued to contact her for decades after she left.

Suzanne’s best quality was her kindness towards both people and animals. Becoming a mother was her greatest joy. She was always there for her own children, in good times and bad. Her love of reading was contagious, so summer vacation always included numerous trips to the library. OZ existed for Suzanne. On the other hand, ’Grammy,’ also known as “Bunny,” never passed up playing a video game with the grandkids, who adored her.

Suzanne filled her home with animals--a parakeet, numerous dogs, two stray cats, fish, turtles, and a rabbit. Nor could she pass up caring for the seven baby opossums whose mother had been hit by a car, two orphaned raccoons, and the deer in her yard. Her volunteer work with the PTA and Oxbow reflected her passion for people and the natural world.

Suzanne was also a relentlessly optimistic person who adored life and had a deep faith. She radiated a positive attitude and encouraged her family to think similarly. Her interests varied through the years ranging from UC basketball, decoupaging purses, tennis, birding, travel, shelling, and perhaps most memorably, her award-winning ballroom dancing with Dave. Indeed, a life well-lived! She will be greatly missed.
